Brake fade, which can occur to disc brake rotors and pads during long downhill rides, negatively impacts braking performance. Shimano’s Ice Technologies disc brake rotors and pads use cooling technology for consistent performance. The clad rotor blade, with its three-layer structure of stainless steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, improves heat dissipation. The pads also feature a radiation fin for better cooling.
The Ice Technologies piston is designed for optimal lightweight, rigidity, and heat dissipation. Oversized pistons transfer hydraulic power directly to the brake pad, while ceramic material prevents heat transfer, ensuring stable and efficient braking. Reach Adjustment
The brake lever features a reach adjust mechanism, allowing the distance from the handlebar grip to the lever to be customized to fit any hand size, riding style, and rider preference.
Free Stroke
When you pull a Servowave brake lever, the pads quickly move to contact the rotor with minimal lever movement. Once the pads touch the rotor, the lever stroke increases braking power rapidly, giving you better control.
